Pain 5/10.

Location: Isle of Sky, Scotland

Pain Diary Entry: 3 April 2023

Sodden yet firm ground underfoot, slowly following the path many others have followed, reinforcing the trail. Stepping over loose rock and little streams that seperate the grazing grounds into little natural spaces that the sheep command. I only took one lens with me this trip, trying to be as lightweight as possible but also to force myself into understanding this field of view better. I was captivated by the natural shape of the landscape under these cliffs, hiding tiny hidden plateaus and pastures within the folds of the hill.
Standing here in the mist looking up to the wet rock face, the rain bouncing off my jacket and freezing my fingers, the bagpipes from below could be heard softly through the mist creating a mythical space. Turning around to look down into The Valley below feeling the wind soak my face with it's cold wet hands i felt alive. Like i was doing it right. My knees were strapped up and i was standing strong. Each Breathe sharp yet beautiful, the warmth of each exhale reminding me of the fireplace that I'll warm up in front of later. For the moment Just allowing the landscape to take me in and hold me, washing my mind off unimportant things, absorbing the moment. It was a beautiful, rugged day. My favourite.
