Chronic Pain Diary
In 2021 I started a medical diary on my phone, that I would update every day with my pain levels and any other issues I was having. I would then take this with me and show the Doctors that I was seeing that day, to save me time having to explain my current situation in a way that they would believe me.
In April 2022 I bought a basic mirrorless camera and decided to convert this daily diary into a dedicated pain diary, in an attempt to do multiple things. It enables me to express and share my pain, by doing so I am finding it easier to manage as I find new ways to describe my various ailments. This has the long term benefit that I hope to inspire a new language or communication of the types of chronic pain and their causes, in an effort to help medical professionals better understand the sensations I and others are feelings so that we can devise better strategies for living with and caring for patients with chronic pain.
I have aspirational goals and they also include being an independent self employed person, in order for me to live a lifestyle that maximises my inout into the world I can no longer work for someone else as my reliability is not something I can give any more. I am selecting certain photographs from my pain diary and printing and displaying them in various exhibitions for sale.
My prints are primarily on brushed Aluminium, intentionally as this material is significant many of values, including resilience, support, strength and long lasting. All my photos are available for custom orders as well as my existing display pieces. All pieces are individualised and unique and require some conversation for me to learn more about life and your philosophies so that I can learn and improve my art.
